Drunken driver slams into moving a vehicle, killing one on the spot in Sumner

In one of the incidences, a man in his sixties slammed his vehicle into moving cars coming from opposite direction killing a 65-year-old woman on the spot before critically injuring a man on Tuesday night. The impact was so severe that it led to the pushing the car coming from the opposite direction into traffic near Sumner. The driver is believed to be under the influence of alcohol.

The collision of three-vehicle took place shortly after 8 p.m. at Sumner Tapps Highway East and 162nd Avenue East. As per the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, the road will not be operational from both directions for some time.

As per the report of a leading news agency, a Geo Metro with two people was stopped to make a left turn when a Ford Ranger truck with a drunken driver on the steering, crashed into the back of the car traveling 45 to 50 mph. It forced them into oncoming traffic, where they got hit by another car going the same speed. The passenger in the Geo Metro immediately died on the spot. The male driver is in a critical condition and has been taken to a close by hospital. Two people were also injured in the crash who were in the third vehicle, a Toyota Camry.

The suspected drunken driver is a 61-year-old Bonney Lake man has been taken to the hospital for a medical check-up. He would be booked under rash driving in the Pierce County Jail.
